The Sound of a Filipino Christmas Comes to Oslo
13th December 2015 @ 4:30 pm - 10:00 pm
As part of their ‘Merry Christmas’ Campaign, MoneyGram are hosting an exciting cultural Christmas event for the Filipino community in Norway. The event called ‘Himig ng Pasko’, the Sound of Christmas, will offer a wide range of traditional and modern performances from some of the biggest and best Filipino musicians and dancers in Oslo. Planned and organised by the German-based creative agency, za:media, this night will be a celebration of the diverse and colourful Filipino culture, and a special way for the community to come together and celebrate Christmas. On the 13th of December 2015, starting at 5pm, the Filipino community of Oslo are invited to come together and celebrate their culture this festive season. Taking place in the unique, rejuvenated Old Museum, Gamle Museet, in Oslo, the event promises to be one to remember! The special musical evening will be free entry and several respected Filipino organisations in Oslo will be present, including a representative from Roots and Wings, the popular Filipino magazine in Europe. Also present will be the charitable organisation Bantay Bata 163, who will be among the organisations with a stall at the event, they have been engaged in child welfare since 1997. Traditional Filipino food will be on offer and Filipinos from across Oslo will have the chance to catch up with old friends or meet new ones. Artists such as the father-daughter duo D’Sancx and the wonderful Rheanne Oviedo Lindeberg will be performing a mixture of traditional, Christmas and modern Filipino and English songs. Also taking to the stage will be dance group Likha Scandinavia Cultural Group and the highly popular and successful Fusion Dance Crew. As well as a terrific stage show, the audience will have the chance to show off their singing skills in the one and only Filipino Pop Idol karaoke party. Bringing the fun-filled evening to a close will be the fantastic skills of Rheanne, who will be following her songs with her famous DJ set – and then it’s time to dance! Other performers taking part will be the talented Matty Jhade Cadampog and an energetic award-winning all-girl dance crew. Christmas is a time to spend with friends and family, which can sometimes be hard when living far from home. For this reason, MoneyGram and za:media want to bring the spirit of a bright and colourful Filipino Christmas to Oslo to give the community a feeling of home and an opportunity to teach their children about the wonderful musical culture in the Philippines.
